Million Dollar Letters

Turn your restaurant or pizzeria into a money-making machine with these proven, profit pulling direct mail letters.

You will not find a faster, easier way to gain instant and explosive traffic than by rolling out… my famous “Million Dollar” letter. Your results can be so explosive – it’s like throwing gas on a fire.

Picture this: It’s Friday night and you’re “tickets down!” A full line of tickets hanging from your ticket holder. A 4 foot roll – hanging off the ticket printer. And the phones ringing non-stop for hours. It’s exciting stuff.

But, let me caution you…

don’t start by mailing out 2 or 3 thousand letters a week. It might just backfire because you’ll be backed up for hours. Instead, ease into it. Mail 1,000 (or there abouts). See what your response is – then adjust.

Also, (and this is where many blow it) don’t I repeat DON”T do anything to make your letter look like anything – other than a personal letter! Nothing! Don’t slap your logo across the top. Don’t print words in red. Don’t print it “one-color” with your signature in black (like it’s a Zerox copy).

The whole idea is to make the letter look like you sat down, typed it out, folded it, hand addressed a plain white envelope, stuck a stamp on it – and dropped it in the mail. That’s what makes it work.

It’s the simple fact that it DOES NOT look like an ad – that gives it so much power. Take a look at the examples below. Follow them very closely. Thay are proven to make the phones ring. If you need to substitute “Garlic Knots” for Garlic Bread, fine. But don’t alter the basic structure.

IMPORTANT: To launch the Million Dollar Letter campaign, you’ll need to order the “#10″ tri-fold menu from CFM (Print/Design in the Print Co-op section)

Examples You Can Cut & Paste From…

Here are many “letters” in Microsoft WORD format. Just click the links, and cut &paste into a WORD doc – then edit to your liking. I’ve highlighted in burgundy things you need to change. Read very carefully though and make sure you have your address, phone, pizza names, etc. correct before having 10,000 of them printed.

Tips for a successful mailing:

  • Make sure they look and “feel” like real honest to goodness – letters
  • Use blue for the signature & doo-dads (letter above on left)
  • Include a menu
  • Use a stamp
  • Use a handwriting font in blue ink for addressing the envelope
  • Mail on Tuesday
  • Start with 1,000 a week

Response rates can run somewhere around 10%. Better yet, this tactic brings in a better type of customer and has them paying full price for the pizza. Yes, you’re giving away some items, this is the “value added” approach and it weeds out the coupon clipping crowd.

Caution: I’ve discovered over the years that restaurants and pizzerias pulling 2% or lower – have two things in common… 1. they’ve been open longer than 3 years. 2. Sales have been declining. This certainly means there are some deep underlying food and image issues. If you get a cruddy response – you better take a serious inward look at your operation.
